Kids nowadays

Kids nowadays

I was at my mak's house when suddenly razif told me he needs a new pair of socks. Just because the rubber is not that tight anymore, he wants a new one. My dear razif, when I was in school I used to take the rubber band n put around my socks. That's it!

He is lucky to be the youngest child. Furthermore, all of us are working and can fulfill his need. Before this, he asked for PS2 but we reject his request because we know he will not study n his brother Mohsin will be the one playing that thing all night long. Then he asked for astro, after a short discussion with mak and the others, on the next day we subscribe astro, together with channel 81 (sport) especially for him.

That's not all, he even owned a handphone (he's only 14!) n guess who pays the bill? US….his sweet, charming, handsome, macho, 'rich' brother n sisters. I know it's not a good practice but entahlah maybe because we had faced difficulty in lives when we were kids and we don't want the same thing happen to him.

It had been difficult when my father had to resign from his job as an assistant manager in one of the top local bank in Malaysia years ago. Not his fault. He is a very nice man unfortunately, people take advantage of him. Adding to the difficulties we had, my mak was pregnant to razif. But miracle does happen. Few months after the delivery, my abah got a new job and from there, we keep going and going higher. Despite of all difficulties in life, all of us (the children) managed to get first grade in SPM and further our study at one of the prestigious institution and in addition to that, all of us are now working in secured job; near to our parents.

When I saw kids returned from school, I remember the time when I will be the last person going back home. Why? I was ashamed with the condition of my bicycle. It made sounds and u can play with the seat's cover. I saw the kids playing the seat's cover like it was a ball, when they finished playing and left the school, I took the cover and put it back. This thing happened every day. Sometimes when I cycled with my bicycle, I can hear people calling me, "adik, seat jatuh!" I stopped n take it back. One more thing, for your information my sister and I both have bicycle with no basket because we cannot afford to buy it. People made fun of us but we are 'selamba' even when we go shopping at the grocery store, we need to put all the things bought, behind (at the carrier). We laughed a lot when the rope keeps falling. But we were so takut if beras 'bocor'. My mak will get really angry because that was our food. sometimes things get worse when we need to repair damages but alhamdulilah my mak is the saviour. She is creative. She will fixed things with her own way. Guna kain buruk, dawai, tali rapia.. all recycled things but it really works! My mak was 'McGyver' (Asean Version)…

Now, when we gather along, we share the experience with razif. We laugh and laugh but we never complaint. Just like when we were kids. It was hard for us but we understand the pressure my parents had. Alhamdulilah!!!! Things are so different now and what we had in past will always be a memorable one. A very good experience for all of us. Alhamdulilah…
